Join me in my studio for an afternoon of linocut printing! I’ll teach you the basics of designing your image, carving the block, and editioning (printing and signing a series of prints).
The theme for the day will be ‘queer joy’ and I thought we could all create a print based on this. It’s a loose theme, so however you choose to interpret it is fine!
It could mean creating imagery that celebrates your sexuality/identity, something that makes you feel proud as a queer person, something that makes you feel connected to your body, or makes you feel part of a loving community, a memory you don’t want to forget, or maybe an image that represents a future you’re looking forward to.
After we create our prints we can take turns showing the finished print to group and (briefly) share the story behind the print and what it means to us. Then we can trade with each other and all go home with a collection of each other’s prints as well as our own :)
When: Saturday June 20th, 2:00pm - 5:00pm (with a tea break half way through)
Where: Studio 102, Percy Williams Building, Krowji, Redruth (the outside doors will be locked, so I’ll meet you downstairs at 2:00 and let everyone in)
Who is welcome: Everyone! This is a safe and welcoming space for everyone. Beginner and experienced printmakers welcome. The building is wheelchair accessible and has gender neutral/accessible toilets :) Just let me know in advance if you have any accessibility requirements
What to bring: Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting ink on! Bring inspiration like sketches, Pinterest boards, photos etc. to help you design your blocks. I’ll have tea here, but bring some snacks/water if you want
Cancellation policy: If you can no longer attend, please let me know within 48 hours of the workshop. I cannot refund or reschedule tickets within 48 hours of the start time
